Salon 2022; Kimball Jenkins Art Exhibit

~ Show dates were November 19th running until December 17th ~

Located in the heart of Concord, NH, Kimball Jenkins, an art studio with the mission to cultivate creativity, make art education accessible and honor historic preservation.

Was hosting an open format, floor to ceiling Salon Style with more than 150 submissions of art show cased in two of their historical buildings. The pictures below will help you see how the pieces were cohesively displayed. The only requirements were that all artwork had to be under 10x10 inches, but any medium goes! These pictures sadly don’t do it justice. There were so many styles and yet they all looked like they were meant to be side by side with each other.

I was given this opportunity with limited time to complete new pieces so I decided to only put in two out of the four spaces they gave me. I wasn’t exactly sure what I would create but I started with some broken mirror* and went from there. I typically let the shape of the glass speak to me with inspiration of what it will end up being. There were a few more influences like my love for mushrooms and the season of the “ugly” sweaters that also came into play. You’ll see below where my love for color exploded and took all those ideas to make, The Mushroom of Life and The Mirror.

*Most of my base materials come from recycled items. This mirror came from my cousin who shattered his very tall floor mirror and was going to throw it out.

Me pointing at my two pieces.
